Tin Srey Orn

My name is Tin Srey Orn, I am 20-year-old. I was born in rural area in Varin District, Siem Reap Province. I moved to live in Siem Reap town for continue my study. I am the oldest child among three siblings.  My parents are farmers; they spend most of their time working in the field. They earn a small amount of money from selling rice, and cassava. I really love my family however they don’t have enough resource and money to support my study but they are always motivation me to keep studying until I finished grade 12. I never stay as a family with my parents because they had migrated to work in Thailand for a long time. But when they came back, I have to leave them due to my study.

I graduated in 2020 at Varin High School, and I was moving to live in Siem Reap town to continues my studies. My family they really want me to finish my study at university but they cannot support. fortunately, the first year they can support me but by online class because of Covid19. During this time, I was a learning Center’s Student in one NGO PEPY Empowering Youth. In the next year in 2022, I Competed for scholarships to continue my studies at the university with other NGO (South-East Asia Foundation) is a partner of PEPY. I got a scholarship from PEPY’s partner.

During my study, I am also working as a volunteer in PEPY Empowering Youth also. I am an English Teacher Assistant almost one year. I learned so many things, I build my English skill, communication, leadership skill, understand about the working process, improve my teaching skill, and meeting with new people in side and outside. Before I never think I want to be an English teacher. I am not love teaching but I was changed my mind after I am working as English teacher Assistant. Therefore, working as English teacher is very important for my country due to in rural area not many English teacher provide for local students. I am so excited and proud when I was teaching, sharing about my knowledge, my experience to young generation. Especially, for the people who come from rural area and poor family.

All in all, working as an English Teacher at REACH Siem Reap is my first full-time job. I am glad and delighted to bring all my knowledge, my experience, my energy and to be a role model for students here. I believe that “Quality Education will change our life”, “Do what you love and love what you do”.
