My name is Sreimom Sok, I am 28 years old. I was born and raised in Siem Reap, Cambodia. I am an only child of a single mom. My mom has a small business to sustain our daily expenses, and every day after school I need to help my mom sell her food. So, that I can earn some money to go to school with my friends. I always loved learning and am always curious about things around the world all the time.
I wanted to learn English so that I could read and know more about the world because I always see English storybooks, but not much of a Khmer storybook to help me learn about the world back in my young lifetime. Unfortunately, my mum could not afford for me to study in private English class, so she decided to send me to a Children’s home to live and get my education over there. This place is called PCL, I live with many other kids, and every weekday, I need to do a lot of things, like go to school in public school, do house chores with other children, and get ready to go to an English class, music class, art class and computer class. Which is equipped me to face the real-world situation.
PCL also gives me a chance to study in Thailand with all the covered tuition fees that are needed. As I mentioned, I love education, so I decided to take a Major in the Department of Education and Psychology, Majoring in Education and psychology and its emphasis on primary Education. I am thankful for this opportunity to take Education as my major studies because it helps me to understand myself and the people around me better. Furthermore, it paved the pathway for me to be able to reach out to families, youth, and young children in a positive reinforcement.
Currently, I am so glad to be one of the members of an Outreach department in which I can reach my hand through my educational background and personality to help my people with the amazing people at REACH Cambodia.
