English Teacher

Sin Sameth

My name is Sin Sameth. I live in Siem Reap province, and my hometown is about 40 kilo meters from Siem Reap city. I have 2 older brothers and one younger brother. I’m the fifth member of my family and the first to have the chance to study at university.

After finishing high school, I received a scholarship from the One Step One Life organization to continue my education in Siem Reap town, starting in 2016. I studied at École d’hôtel Erie et de Tourism Paul Dubrule and at Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia. My major was tourism, where I learned about travel for leisure, business, and other purposes. The course covered topics such as tourist behaviour, destination management, hospitality, sustainable tourism, and the social and economic impacts of tourism. I also developed my computer skills during this time.

At the same time, I studied English to prepare myself for university-level studies. I’m currently completing a bachelor’s degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) at Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia, and I’m now in my fourth year.

Teaching is my passion. It all started when I volunteered as an English teacher at Angkor Kids Center (AKC). Later, I had the opportunity to teach English more formally, and I discovered how much I enjoy working with children. I love seeing their smiles and watching them grow through the power of education. It’s amazing to be part of their journey and help build a brighter future.

I also worked as an assistant English teacher at PC Green Angkor International Nursery and Kindergarten. There, I learned many important skills from my lead teacher, including technical knowledge, creative classroom activities, and effective teaching techniques. This experience taught me how to combine academic content with practical learning and how to explain ideas clearly to young learners. My mentor inspired me to keep learning and improving every day.

Through these experiences, I discovered that teaching is something I truly enjoy. It allows me to share my knowledge, support others, and continue growing. I especially love teaching young children because they are full of curiosity and energy. One of the most rewarding moments is seeing their happy faces when they understand something new. It reminds me why I chose this path. Working for an NGO has been my dream since I was young. Helping others and seeing them smile brings me true happiness. REACH inspires me with its impact in Siem Reap supporting not only education, but also health, nutrition, hygiene, life skills, and community development. I would be proud to join such a meaningful and dedicated team.
