Roeun Rint

Hi, this is Rint, a person who strives for progress. I was born and raised in rural area, Sotr Nikom district of Siem Reap province, in northwestern Cambodia.

Amongst three siblings, I am the second one and also the only one who is well-educated within my family. While my two siblings have already dropped out of school, I have been motivated by my parents again and again to pursue higher education which is to study at university to help myself get out of illiteracy and secure a well-paying job to help my own self and family.

In 2018 was a tough year for me since I failed my national examination for my grade 12. Finally, in 2019, my hard work paid off as I passed the exam, and my family was very thrilled. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from the University of South-East Asia in 2024.

REACH is not just a common NGO but is a platform that provides underprivileged children with the chance to improve their standard of living through education, providing food, financial support, medical support, dental support, vocational skills and so on.

I have been working here since 2022 as an English teacher and 2024 I decided to change my position to be a social worker. I wanted to change my working environment from working with kids to working with both families and kids, and dive deeper into the community.

Nowadays, there are so many impoverished people not only in Cambodia but around the world. Therefore, it’s time for me to give back to the community. All I can do now is try to be a good social worker working with the REACH team, apply all my knowledge, skills and experiences in order to contribute into their journey breaking through a cycle of poverty.
