Campaign Support Officer

Keuk Sithorn

My name is Keuk Sithorn. I was born in a rural area of Siem Reap Province called DomDek Thmei Village. I am living with my sister in Siem Reap town to study and work.  I am the youngest child of three siblings; my sisters and brother have received an education. My father was a farmer; however, he stopped working due to his health problems and my mother used to be a seller, but now she is a housewife. For as long as I can remember, they have worked hard to support our studies.

In 2019, I graduated from high school and moved to live in Siem Reap City to continue my bachelor’s degree, majoring of Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). During that time, I did not have money to pay for my school fees, and I did not want to depend on my parents to support me at all. Then, I started to apply for a scholarship at an NGO, and luckily, I had an opportunity to get a scholarship at one NGO called CEDO, they provided me with accommodation and food for 2 years and tuition for 5 years.

I have been working for a private school for more than two years, teaching English. Through this role, I have gained significant experience related to my field of study, including both soft and hard skills. During my university life, I had the opportunity to complete a two-week teaching practicum in Thailand, which provided invaluable experience teaching national students. Besides teaching, I’ve been an active member of the Siem Reap Toastmasters Club, enhancing my public speaking abilities and contributing to my professional development. Additionally, I am eager to learn new things and have participated in various training programs relevant to my studies and leadership skills. Furthermore, I am passionate about charity, volunteering, and helping people, particularly children and families, access education.

Finally, I am very excited to be a part of REACH as it is a place that helps communities, especially impoverished children and families, be better in the future. Before, I was an English teacher teaching mix-ability students in Purple Room. As a teacher, I could see how the kids come to school with their smiles and their progression in learning has grown day by day. I have now changed my role to be a Campaigns Support Officer in order to raise money to support the kids and also their families to assist in their daily life. I am fascinated by the opportunity to share all my knowledge, skills, positive energy, and commitment to help our organization develop. I am so thrilled to work with a very supportive team, a friendly environment, group collaboration, and positive people around me that I believe we will help our communities, especially kids, have a brighter future.
