At the heart of our mission at REACH is the understanding that a child’s success in school is dependent on the stability of their home. As such, our Outreach program offers services and resources to address the needs of entire families who are living under urban poverty. According to the UN Habitat’s 2024 report, 39.7% of Cambodian’s urban population continues to live in slums. This indicates that many families don’t own legal land titles, and they often are squatting on government roads or other informal settings.

For Chris, this wasn't just a physical test, it was a journey of firsts. Having never traveled outside of Europe or the US, the prospect of cycling 650km from the coast to Siem Reap in 30-degree heat was as daunting as it was exciting.

We believe that education should be more than just learning the traditional subjects; it should also be about the holistic development of each individual. As such, our education programs and electives cover the foundation.

In many parts of the world, turning on a tap to receive a glass of safe drinking water is so routine it is often taken for granted. However, for the families we support in Siem Reap, access to this basic necessity remains a daily, uphill battle. Our commitment to water security begins with educating the next generation.

For many young people around the world, access to education is a fundamental right. But in Cambodia, especially for students from less privileged backgrounds, reaching the end of high school is not guaranteed—it is an absolute milestone, a testament to years of immense hard work, commitment, and family sacrifice. REACH works alongside all of our youth to provide the best opportunities and comprehensive academic and emotional support necessary, which is why we are proud to introduce our Junior Employee Graduate Scheme!

Traditionally, literacy means the ability to read and write in one language, but at REACH, our students aim higher. Their goal is bi-literacy, as they strive to master writing, reading, and expressing themselves confidently in two languages, both English and Khmer.Every day, our students display consistent effort, curiosity, and resilience towards achieving this goal, and this September, we celebrated Literacy Day for the first time to acknowledge their unwavering dedication.
