The path from finishing school to finding a fair-paying job is often blocked by a lack of resources for our Cambodian youth. For the most determined teenagers, the high cost of tuition and equipment can make university an impossible dream. Many youths are often forced into exploitative jobs that pay less than a living wage, trapped in the same cycle of poverty as their parents. The Geoffrey Wilson Scholarship Program is that missing final link, ensuring our students don’t just dream of a better future, but actually reach it.

We named this program in honour of Geoffrey Wilson, who generously provided the initial funds back in 2019 that allowed us to launch it. Without his early support, this pathway for our students wouldn’t exist.

The Geoffrey Wilson Scholarship Program supports youths aged 16+ who have the drive to succeed but simply cannot afford the next step. We focus on two key groups:

  • Youth who have had to leave school early without the skills to become self-sufficient.
  • High-achieving students who have earned a seat at university but lack the funds for
    tuition.

With this program, we are not just handing out funds; we provide a clear pathway for our youth with various opportunities. Through our partnerships with local institutions, we facilitate two key streams

  • Vocational Training: Scholarships for hospitality and trade programs at partner
institutions, leading directly to fair, contracted employment.
  • University Scholarships: Financial support and mentorship for students to attend university, allowing them to become the next generation of Cambodian professionals.

By backing these students, we are investing in youths who are committed to lifting up their families and their entire community.

Our commitment to education starts from within. A core part of our strategy is the empowerment of our local REACH team. We currently have 7 dedicated team members pursuing their own degrees and professional certifications through the Geoffrey Wilson Scholarship Program.

By investing in our team’s growth, we are bringing advanced skills back into REACH, from social work to education and management. These scholarship recipients take on leadership roles, mentoring our younger students and proving to the community that higher education is achievable for everyone.
