Hi, my name is Tal Sopheak. I’m 19 years old. I’m basically from Kampong Pluk commune, Bakong Temple district, Siem Reap province. Currently, I’m living in Thlok Andoung village with 5 members in my family. My father is a Tuk Tuk driver, and my mother is a housewife and a seller. My older sister is studying at BBU university and working as an English teacher in one organization in Siem Reap. My younger brother is studying in grade 12, 10 January High School.
I started study English in kindergarten in a private school when I was young. After that I was transferred to a public school at Wat Bo primary school in grade 1. In 2012 due to my family financial problem my parents decided to let all their kids studied English at one Organization and It had been a long journey there because they had provided me an opportunity, free meals, education and very supportive. After I graduated from grade 6, I started my journey in high school until I graduated in 2023 after baccalaureate national exam, and I got D degree.
I spent 3 months without any job staying home and trying to apply for a job or scholarship to go to college, until on February 05, I started working as an internship at REACH organization for 9 months. I got to know REACH more and meet a lot of amazing kids here. They are very smart and friendly. Especially, I enhance more soft skill such as teaching method, communication skill and bike mechanic. After that I got a surprise that I eligible to become a staff in REACH team. I’m really grateful for this opportunity and I look forward to learning more skills. I am determined to provide the students with knowledge and skill to eliminate the consequence of poverty. All in all, what I’m doing is just to guide the path for them to a brighter future and we also need their strong commitment to reach their goal, too.
