Anyone that has ever heard me talk about Cambodia will know that after my first trip to Siem Reap volunteering, that Cambodia and the Khmer people found their way into my heart. So much so that I fondly refer to Cambodia as my home away from home.

My first trip to Siem Reap was the catalyst for a lot of positive change in my life so I’ve decided to give a little back.

In January 2021, I have set myself a challenge of cycling 200 kms and raising AUD $1,000 to support impoverished children and youths enrolled at REACH Siem Reap Cambodia. REACH is an NGO that was opened in March 2020 by Joe and Emily, two incredibly inspiring and generous people I had the privilege to meet during my time spent in Siem Reap.

Only 40 years post genocide, the beautiful country is overcoming the devastation of over 25% of their total population being killed. Unfortunately, the current young generation are still feeling the effects. Many families live in dire poverty, surviving off less than $1.25 a day due to lack of education and an inability to find supporting employment.

For many of us, we are lucky that $1.25 would be spare change in the pockets of our jeans. It is hard to even imagine that many Cambodian families are facing a daily struggle to feed 7 mouths with that same amount. This leaves nothing aside for basic human needs such as healthcare or education.

This is why I am asking you to consider donating to my fundraiser for REACH. REACH hosts a variety of cohesive programs to combat these issues providing children and youths with free education and meals at the most vital stages in their life. Something that may seem so routine for so many, is so needed for those in Cambodia.

No amount is too small. Thank you so much
