Chheun Sophal

My name is Chheun Sophal. I was born in Kouttasot village. I have 4 children and 4 grandchildren.

I studied only until grade 2 because the war started. I then helped my mother’s work. In 1982, I became a soldier. After the war ended, I returned to be a farmer with my family again.

In 1999, I moved to Siem Reap, and I started working as a tractor mechanic. After some years, I got government land, and I built my house there.

I switched to a job at a company from 2013 to 2017, but it didn’t pan out, so I returned to fixing tractors. Fortunately, REACH opened nearby, and I’ve been working as a security guard there ever since.

I believe that I can take good care of REACH and the students that come to the organisation looking to improve their education to have a better future.
